Για να μην καταλήξεις με κάποιον ποδηλάτη ή μηχανάκι κολλημένο στην πόρτα σου, το πιο απλό πράγμα που μπορείς να κάνεις- μετά την απαραίτητη ρύθμιση της ασφάλειας για τους επιβάτες, είναι να ανοίγεις την πόρτα του οδηγού με το δεξί χέρι (και αντίστοιχα του συνοδηγού με το αριστερό).

Το λεγόμενο ‘dutch reach’ είναι ένα κόλπο που έρχεται από την Ολλανδία. Εκεί κυκλοφορούν εκατοντάδες ποδηλάτες και μπορεί να σε σώσει από ατυχήματα. Όταν λοιπόν πας να ανοίξεις την πόρτα κάντο με το αντίθετο χέρι. Έτσι η πόρτα δεν θα μπορέσει να ανοίξει διάπλατα και δεν υπάρχει κίνδυνος ατυχήματος. Τόσο απλό, τόσο αποτελεσματικό.

Fondamentalmente, invece di utilizzare il braccio sinistro vicino alla portiera, si utilizza il braccio destro per aprirla.
Per farlo, automaticamente gira il corpo e si posizionano testa e spalle in modo tale che si guardi direttamente fuori. Prima, attraverso lo specchietto retrovisore e poi, si può facilmente girarsi e vedere se ci sono bici in arrivo o auto o qualsiasi altra cosa.

네덜란드 운전자들이 반드시 오른손으로 자동차 문을 여는 이유

한국과 같이 운전석이 왼쪽에 있는 나라에서는 보통 운전석에 앉은 사람이 자동차에서 내릴 때 왼손으로 차 문을 여는 것이 일반적이죠.

아무래도 차 문이 몸 왼쪽에 있기 때문에 가까운 왼손이 자연스럽게 문 손잡이를 잡게 됩니다.

그런데 이상하게도 네덜란드에서는 운전자들은 차 문을 열 때 오른손을 사용합니다.

심지어 오른쪽 조수석에 앉은 사람도 반대 손인 왼손을 이용해 문을 열죠.

그렇다면 왜 네덜란드에서만 유일하게 사람들이 반대 쪽 손으로 자동차 문을 열까요?

وعلى الرغم من أنّ الأمر يبدو وكأنه غير مهمّ، لكنّ حوادث ضرب المشاة بباب السيارة أثناء فتحه أدّت إلى وفاة العشرات منهم حول العالم.

Metoda the Dutch Reach polega na otwieraniu drzwi samochodu ręką bardziej oddaloną od drzwi, czyli w przypadku kierowcy będzie to prawa ręka, w przypadku pasażera lewa. Postępując w ten sposób kierowca jest zmuszony do obrócenia ciała w kierunku drzwi, to daje mu możliwość spojrzenia przez ramię i sprawdzenia, czy nie nadjeżdża rowerzysta. Ta metoda minimalizuje ryzyko uderzenia rowerzysty, zepchnięcia go z roweru czy w skrajnym przypadku zepchnięcia na ulicę pod jadący pojazd. Dlatego w Holandii wprowadzono ją jako element edukacji nt. bezpieczeństwa ruchu drogowego w szkołach oraz egzaminu na prawo jazdy*.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), UK has endorsed the Dutch Reach Method as a recommended best traffic safety practice. RoSPA published by web its expert finding of safety advantage. It points out that the far hand reach method provides a continuous view of on-coming traffic whilst preparing to open and exit the motor vehicle. It protects cyclists and exiting occupants from heedless and at times devastating harm, either by direct collision or due to dangerous swerves by bicyclists or vehicles to avoid flung open doors.
